London City Break Essentials

On Friday, I am going to London for the weekend! I’ve only been once before, in 2013 I went to Fashion Week for a few days with uni, but I haven’t done any of the touristy things before. We fly down on Friday and home on Sunday, so lots of time for activities!

I’ve been searching the internet for posts about what to pack for city breaks, and London in particular, but not much has came up. I always do this before going places because I hate packing. It’s always interesting, and somewhat comforting, reading other people’s views on essentials for a trip. I know what I need to take, but there’s so much I want to take  – that I probs don’t need! So, I’m writing this for people like me, who search for posts like this.

These are six “essential” things based on what I have taken on previous trips and what I think I will need for London…

1. Camera. Yep, I’m gonna be a typical tourist and snap away! I recently bought a Canon camera which I’ve been using for blogging. I’m excited to take lots of photos!

2. Mom Jeans. These are super comfy and great for a city break, easy to dress up or down. Especially good for London in February as I assume it’s going to be quite cold!

3. Layers. It can be hard to pack a stylish and compact wardrobe suitable for the weather. Neutral coloured cardigans or jumpers are easy to add to an outfit if you’re needing some extra warmth. (A blouse or shirt is a good idea too as they look good with or without the addition of a jumper)

4. Leather Boots. Heeled boots are great as they can be worn day and night. I’ll probably take trainers too, but it’s good to keep your options open! I’m not really a high-heels gal so I’ll wear boots out at night. These ones are from River Island.

5. Backpack. I just think a backpack would make life easier when walking about shops etc. This leather backpack is from Urban Outfitters, I use it all the time and would say it’s the perfect size.

6. Lipstick. Maybe this isn’t an essential item, but I’d certainly be lost without it! Down-sizing my makeup bag for a trip away means ditching my bigger eyeshadow palettes, so I make up for it with a dark lip – this is Whirl, a darker nude.

I hope you found this post useful if you’re struggling to pack for a weekend away! Apart from the obvious, let me know if there’s anything else I might need. Thanks for reading!

R U Mine?

I am guilty of outfit repeating… I find it so hard to put outfits together. That’s partly why I started this blog. To try and experiment with clothes I own, old and new, and see what goes together and what doesn’t. I search on blogs for outfit ideas and also take inspiration from people I know – some girls can just put things together so effortlessly and look amazing!

So, from now on I’m going to try and mix up what I wear – instead of tiring out the same three boring outfits!

I got this top from Zara, the detail and the “R U Mine” speech bubble attracted me to it straight away – got to love an Arctic Monkeys reference! It was also a bit different to anything I had seen in shops at the time. Since it’s navy and white, I think it looks best worn with denim. If you read one of my December posts, you will know that I got this skirt from New Look. It’s another item of clothing I’ve been wearing a lot recently – it’s just so versatile! I thought the leather jacket just tied the outfit together nicely. My mum got it in the 90s but hasn’t worn it for years! I was so happy when she gave me it, it’s beautiful!

Hope you’ve had a good Valentines weekend! Let me know if you have any tips for styling outfits! I would love to hear them.

Valentines Night Out

I’m not really a fan of Valentines Day and how much of a hype it seems to have gotten over the past few years – but I do like to go out for dinner, any excuse and I’ll take it! Whether you’re going on a romantic date, a mate date or just heading out for drinks with friends, a bold makeup look is just what you need! Do not opt for a boring natural look, even though it’s easiest and I am guilty of this too, but spice it up – extend your eyeliner flicks and add some glitter…

I’m terrible at eye makeup, so after searching Pinterest I found a picture which I thought I could recreate with my Naked 3 palette. If you don’t have this palette, you just need 4 shades – matte cream/white, matte brown, shimmery champagne & shimmery brown (darkest you can find)!

Firstly, I worked the matte brown into the crease and highlighted my brow bone and inner-corner with the matte cream. Next I patted on the champagne shimmer across the lid and darkened the outer corner with the shimmery brown. Then blend blend blend! Sweep whatever is left on your brush under your eye so it all ties in together. I added some liquid eyeliner to make the look a little bit more dramatic!

I wore this look out to dinner and wore my Kylie Lip Kit in Candy K. This is my go-to nude lipstick just now as it lasts alllll night long. I used it for a nightout last weekend and I didn’t have to reapply it once! Amazing!

Now my makeup is sorted, I need to find something I can wear! What are your plans for Valentines day?

SAG Awards 2016: Dress Envy

On Saturday night, actors and actresses attended the SAG Awards which honours performers in both TV and Film. As always, before the event, all attention is on the red carpet – who is best dressed? What designer is she wearing? And, more importantly, who is going to be on Perez Hilton’s Worst Dressed 2016 list?

After searching through dozens of the night’s photographs, I decided upon two glamorous ladies who stole the show. Firstly, Alicia Vikander, a Swedish actress best known for starring in the film adaption of Anna Karenina and more recently The Danish Girl. She was wearing a sequined Louis Vuitton dress, in-keeping with Spring 2016s trend of Sparkle Motion. I think sequins can sometimes be a bit over-the-top, but it all depends on the colours used and who’s wearing it – Alicia certainly pulled the look off elegantly in metallics!

The 22nd Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards - Red Carpet

Rachel McAdams opted for sequins too, but much more delicately in this embellished Elie Saab gown. The nude mesh and black detailing, paired with the long train made for a dramatic addition to the red carpet!

Stunning ladies and dresses! I have to say I love the embellishment and sparkle.

Both Alicia and Rachel were nominated in the Outstanding Performance By A Female Actor In A Supporting Role category, and Alicia won the award. Did you see the highlights from the red carpet on Saturday?

Bring Out The Pastels | Fashion

Last week, Kimberley Garner was pictured wearing this outfit. Doesn’t she look great? It caught my attention straight away as i’m so used to seeing chunky-knits and dark outfits at this time of year! So after a good nosey on her Instagram I was digging in my wardrobe looking for my pink coat from last year. There’s no point in only saving pastels for Spring!

I love the knee-high boots and skirt combo, but I would say it’s definitely too cold for that just now in Scotland!

Instead, I opted for an all black outfit (usual) with my pink coat, sparkly socks and silver jewellery. I wore this to the cinema to see Daddy’s Home, it’s hilarious!

Rushed, bedroom pics and messy hair… sorry!

Coat – Primark

T-shirt – Zara

Jeans – Topshop

Boots – Bank

I love Primark’s coats and jackets. I got this one last year and it is great quality for the price, I think it was only £18 or £20, bargain! I can already tell I am going to over-wear it and be bored of it by the time Spring comes again! Kimberley’s pink coat is from Oasis, although I can’t find it on their website (maybe hers is from last year too!), but keep an eye out for similar styles.

Thanks for reading!

Lazy Snow Day & Bar Soba

This is how my Sunday went. I woke up about 10am, ate some left over Indian curry, then watched Workaholics while getting ready. Callum and I had decided to go to Glasgow for a look about the shops, and have some lunch and drinks. I got a quick photo of the view from his house with the snow, before heading for the train. Don’t let the pretty photo deceive you – the only good thing about snow was when you could get a day off of school from it! Yes, it can be pretty to look at for as long as it stays fluffy and white but it soon changes in to slush and is ruining everyones shoes!

Urban Outfitters is always my favourite shop to visit. Their Home and Gift section has lots of lovely things just now – I spent ages looking at the books and journals too! If you are starting back at Uni/College you should check out their Ohh Deer range for some notebooks etc, they have so many cute and quirky designs!

We then went to the Lighthouse for some lunch, then next door to Bar Soba for drinks. I am now regretting not just going to Bar Soba for lunch as their Katsu Curry is amazing!

We were in Soba for a while, such a nice place for a drink! I hadn’t even heard of it until last year as it’s quite hidden, down a little lane. If you haven’t been before, you have to go and try their cocktails!

Hope you’ve had a relaxed Sunday! This is a bit of a lazy post but I didn’t have anything exciting planned; so thought I would just blog about my day.

Meet Rossi

On Sunday my family brought home our newest little addition… Rossi the Frenchie!

We had spoken for a while about getting another dog, but instead of a Boxer again, we wanted a smaller dog. We decided on a French Bulldog as, apart from being super cute, they are very friendly and make great companion dogs. When we went to see him we instantly fell in love! The next day we brought him home.

He was all wrapped up on his journey home with us…

He loves his new bed and toys… especially his fluffy hedgehog!

He has settled in great and is being treated like a little celebrity. So many people want to come see him and he’s already had lots of visitors! Im so happy to have a little dog in the family again! If you follow me on instagram, I’m sure you will be kept up-to-date with lots of pictures of him!
