DIY Denim

Ripped jeans / Distressed denim – it’s a trend that keeps coming back! Whether it’s shorts or jeans everyone’s wearing it. Frayed hems and ripped knees is what it’s all about this summer.. keeping you casual but stylish. I think that anyone can pull the look off, not everybody likes it  but it can be worn all year round and I loveee it.

I was reading an article “Pimp Your Denim” in Company Mag which was all about creating your own DIY ripped jeans look and thought I would give it a go. It’s so easy to do and I’m really happy with the results. All you need is an old pair of jeans that you don’t mind cutting up (I bought a pair of skinny jeans from Primark for £6 for this), scissors, tweezers and some sandpaper.

All you do is cut two horizontal lines the width of the rip you want. Then take the tweezers and remove all the vertical threads that are left… This can take a while so I just watched tv while doing it. Run sandpaper over the rips and edges to give it a more distressed look. When you wash the jeans/shorts you’ll get the full effect!

The jeans that I done, I wear rolled up and with converse. They can be easily styled up with a pair of heels or if they’re shorts they will go with almost anything! Hope you like them!
